Anthony Michael Bourdain (born June 25, 1956) is an American chef, author, and television personality. He is a 1978 graduate of The Culinary Institute of America and a veteran of numerous professional kitchens, including many years as executive chef at Brasserie Les Halles. Though Bourdain is no longer formally employed as a chef, he maintains a relationship with Les Halles in New York. He became widely known for his 2000 book Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly. His first food and world-travel television show was A Cook's Tour, which ran for 35 episodes on the Food Network from 2002 through 2003. In 2005 he began hosting the Travel Channel's culinary and cultural adventure programs Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations (2005–2012) and The Layover (2011–2013). In 2013, he switched to CNN to host Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.
Anthony Bourdain was born in New York City, and grew up in Leonia, New Jersey. His parents were Pierre Bourdain (d. 1987), a classical music industry executive for Columbia Records, and Gladys Bourdain (née Sacksman), a staff editor for The New York Times.
Portugal (Portuguese: [puɾtuˈɣaɫ]), officially the Portuguese Republic (Portuguese: República Portuguesa), is a country on the Iberian Peninsula, in southwestern Europe. It is the westernmost country of mainland Europe, being bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and south and by Spain to the north and east. The Portugal–Spain border is 1,214 km (754 mi) long and considered the longest uninterrupted border within the European Union. The republic also includes the Atlantic archipelagos of the Azores and Madeira, both autonomous regions with their own regional governments.
The land within the borders of current Portugal has been continuously settled and fought over since prehistoric times. The Celts and the Romans were followed by the Visigothic and the Suebi Germanic peoples, who were themselves later invaded by the Moors. These Muslim peoples were eventually expelled during the Christian Reconquista of the peninsula. By 1139, Portugal had established itself as a kingdom independent from León. In the 15th and 16th centuries, as the result of pioneering the Age of Discovery, Portugal expanded Western influence and established the first global empire, becoming one of the world's major economic, political and military powers.

Food for thought with Anthony Bourdain. The popular chef and turned writer/creator of graphic novels recently stopped by SITM to discuss the balance between creating the most delicious meals on earth, television roles and more. You have probably caught him traveling the globe on “No Reservations” exploring the different cultures, so it was only right to find out what dishes he likes whether it be from Milan or Rome. Ironically enough a simple grandma meatloaf will do the trick for Bourdain, nothing beats home cooking it seems. Beyond the dinner table, Anthony has also combined his lifelong passions of comic books and Japanese sword flicks into his own grapic novel ‘Get Jiro: Blood and Sushi‘. This will be the prequel to the previous New York Times bestseller ‘Get Jiro‘ which surfaced bac...
Digital has overtaken print throughout the media, and it’s no different in the realms of food and travel. But can travel websites move beyond top ten lists and gauzy food porn? Can you build an audience while talking about the world as it really exists, with all its heartache and idiocy and occasional triumphs? Anthony Bourdain—writer, raconteur, host of CNN’s Part Unknown—became a partner in Roads & Kingdoms, a digital media startup based in Brooklyn and Barcelona, in 2015 to help shape what comes next. He talks food, fear and the future of travel media with Roads & Kingdoms co-founder Nathan Thornburgh. Versão em Português em baixo. Since posting the video of the Beamish Open Air Museum, featuring a Porto (Portugal) tram, I have been requested to upload a video of Porto cars in their "natural environment". This video is dedicated to Sr J. R. Rocha, former electrical chief of Boa Vista depot, who put aside important material over many years, which formed the basis of the excellent technical museum in Massarelos. Views of this museum and the cars he helped restore appear in this video. Sadly, Sr Rocha died earlier this month. He was a great ambassador for STCP (the Porto tramway operator) and embraced visiting enthusiasts from many countries as if they were part of his family (which, in a way we were). He will be sadly missed. The city of Porto (Cidade Invicta - Unconquered City) once boas...
